A Woman’s Guide to Financial Planning

When my mother was 43 years old, she was divorced after 22 years of marriage and 5 boys, and I’m number two. Through no fault of her own, my mother was not prepared to handle her half of the settlement, and had tripped herself down the path of becoming an “old lady on a fixed income.” A Woman’s Guide to Financial Planning is fast past, fun and entertaining AND informative. The 7 Essential Ingredients walks the reader towards a real path to creating a well thought-out financial plan. Real stories allow the reader to learn quickly the importance of planning, so she doesn’t outlive her money. This book is a must read for all women who are faced with making independent financial decisions.

When my dad died, I knew that my mom wasn’t that strong with their finances. Sure, she was aware of the bills, and she paid most of them. But she never learned about creating a financial plan, let a lone really understanding what a mutual fund is — or even a stock or a bond. I found your course and gave it to her. WOW, what a difference in her understanding. She loved the many stories and analogies that you talked about. Thank you for putting this together for women just like her!

I was divorced like your mom. I had no idea what to do. Your book was very informative and very helpful. Now I feel like I can create a “well thought out” plan. I like the sound of that.

Thank you for the gift of knowledge!

  4. Jenny – November 3, 2019

Thanks Shak. This helped me understand. I have been to many broker meetings with my ex and never understood what they were talking about. Now I get it. Thank you.

  5. Shu – September 19, 2019

Wonderful. This is plain English. For me, that is good. Thank you.

When my mom died, she had nothing prepared for me. Even though I am an only child, because there was no will, we had to go through the probate process, which was very stressful. I knew I had to learn the financial stuff for myself.

Your book is very easy to read and as I like to say, in lay-woman’s terms. The stories you gave are very relate-able and I even laughed at a couple of them. Thank you!

  7. Monique – July 11, 2019

After reading your book, I felt ready to take on the financial planning world — so I can outpace inflation and not become an old lady on a fixed income. Well done! And, thank you.

  8. Frida – July 8, 2019

Thank you for writing this. I was too afraid to seem like I was stupid about finances. I didn’t want to be sold by a broker until I really understood about finances. Your book is a must read for all women!

  9. Nana – July 2, 2019

After reading your book, I have a better understanding of what to do with my finances. I recommend this book to all women who make financial decisions. Very clear, funny stories, and great analogies make the reading, especially for a financial book, entertaining.

I have read other financial books, but they seem too complicated and technical.

Yours was right on. I learned a lot and confirmed other things. Thanks for writing it.

Everyone woman needs to read this!

Thank you, Shak. Like your mom, I when I was divorced, I didn’t know what to do. Thank you for your book. It is very easy to understand and very helpful.

After my husband died, I had no idea what to do about our finances. I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t even know where all of the accounts were.

My son, though well meaning, told me to just buy CDs, which I did. But after reading your book, I realized that CDs will hurt me and wont allow me to maintain my purchasing power.

You have really opened my eyes to the need for proper financial planning. Thank you!

I love the story about “moving in the furniture.” My lawyer tried so hard to explain what funding the trust meant, but your story cleared it up in one sentence.

Thanks for your willingness to help others, like your mom.

I think you are wrong. You said that this book is for the widowed and divorced woman.

Well, I’m happily married and have been so for 33 years. But I have always let my husband make the financial decisions (and he says that I make the spending decisions).

I knew it was time for me to start learning more, and my broker recommended this book. I am glad he did.

Thanks for writing it, and for happily married women also.

    Informative and Understandable

Shak Hill’s book is filled with useful financial information! As Shak recommends, my husband and I have used the services of a financial planner for many years, but I had not bothered trying to understand our plan. Shak’s motivational tone has already led to an informative financial conversation with my husband, and there are definitely more to come!

This book showed me the differences between trusts and wills, how various investments work, what mistakes to watch out for, and much more. Shak’s analogies and stories made the material more interesting and understandable than I thought possible. He gives so many examples that some are sure to hit home with every reader.

I highly recommend “A Woman’s Guide to Financial Planning.”
